Terms & Conditions
There are risks inherent in the handling, restraint, grooming, bathing, blow drying, shaving and nail trimming of cats, including risk of serious injury or even death. PCG would like to assure you that every effort will be made to minimize accidents, illnesses or injuries to your pet as they are as important to us as our own pets.
Safety for everyone is our priority!
Even the gentlest of grooming causes stress to an animal. I hereby agree to the foregoing as owner of the pet:
Health or Medical Problems, Senior Cats
Professional grooming, which includes bathing, blow drying, and shaving may uncover underlying medical issues or skin problems. Any health or medical issue found during the grooming process will be brought to the attention of the owner, who will be advised to seek veterinary attention for those issues.
Elderly cats are at a higher risk for nicks and cuts from shaving due to the thinness of their skin. Any grooming that takes place on elderly cats, or cats with health problems either current or discovered, will solely be at the owner’s risk.
If the cat has reached the age of 12 and has not been examined by a veterinarian in the last 12 months, underlying disease processes may be present, and they may be at an increased risk of accident, illness, injury or death.
Matted/Pelted Cat Policy
Our mission is to enrich the lives of cats and their owners by advancing their health and well-being through dedicated, one-on-one professional grooming services.
Dematting/detangling of matted hair may cause patchiness and hair loss. Consent to remove the matted hair is on this understanding. Shaving your cat will dramatically change the pet’s appearance, as the hair will be very close to the skin. Removal of mats whether by shaving or de-matting procedure can be stressful to your pet and may exacerbate stress-sensitive health problems.
Removing a heavily matted or pelted coat can cause nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to skin growths trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow, producing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process.
After- effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, bruising, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to grow back. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes.
Prevention is the best defense by scheduling regular grooming appointments every 4-6 weeks. For the reasons stated above, Purrsnippety will only shave a pelted cat once.
Veterinarian Authorization – Medical Emergencies
Some cats and owners may enter into a “latchkey” arrangement with Purrsnippety, whereby the owner may not be present during the grooming process. Certain illnesses and conditions including (but not limited to) diabetes, heart murmur, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, seizures, and being overweight result in a higher risk of incident during grooming. If your pet has a critical medical incident during the grooming appointment, transportation to a veterinary facility with simultaneous medical attention may not be possible. Purrsnippety will make every effort to contact the owner, provide medical attention and expedient transportation of your pet to the nearest appropriate veterinary clinic. The owner is responsible for all veterinary charges that may incur. Purrsnippety reserves the right to refuse or cancel services where a cat with a potentially contagious disease exists.
Vaccinations
Proof of current vaccinations (including rabies) is required for each kitty prior to any grooming appointment. No grooming will take place without proof of current vaccinations.
Accidents
While we take every precaution, accidents are sometimes unavoidable. Grooming equipment is very sharp and nicks, cuts, scratches and quicking of nails could occur. In most cases, this happens due to the kitty being wriggly or moving around during their appointment. Every effort will be made to ensure your kitty is groomed as safely as possible. Often cats behave much better when the owner is absent or it is not aware of the owner's presence. Please be discreet at all times if you will be near the grooming area.
Interruptions During the Grooming Process
For the safety of your pet and groomer, Purrsnippety asks that you do not interrupt the groomer during the grooming process. If the owner becomes stressed or distressed by the grooming process, and requests that grooming be ceased and terminated, they will be responsible for payment of any and all grooming procedures requested and booked for that appointment.
Dangerous or Aggressive Behaviour – Refusal of Services
Owners must inform Purrsnippety if your kitty or kitties have bitten or is aggressive to people, other cats, or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if deemed necessary for the safety of both your kitty and the groomer.
We reserve the right to refuse/stop services for the cat(s) at any time before or during the grooming process and charge a handling fee in addition to the regular grooming fee. If your kitty should bite, you agree to responsible for any and all related medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income and/or equipment damage. Effective September 1, 2020, Purrsnippety will no longer provide grooming services for extremely aggressive cats.
If a cat becomes very fractious or difficult to handle when approached for or during grooming, or the cat cannot be safely approached, contained or groomed, without causing undue stress for the cat and owner, and possible injury to the groomer, the groom will be stopped and the cat will be referred to a vet for grooming under anesthesia. Charges for services booked will be applied.
Deposit
Purrsnippety requires a $50 deposit on all bookings to secure your appointment. Payment can be made with credit card or e-transfer at the time of booking. Bookings that have not paid a deposit 24 hours prior to the appointment will be considered cancelled and their appointment offered to another client. The deposit will be forfeited if the appointment is cancelled and not rescheduled.
Cancellations/No Shows
When you book an appointment with any of our groomers, that time is set aside for you and you alone. In exchange, we ask that you keep your promise to us and be available for your scheduled appointment. Please understand that our groomers are only paid when they deliver a service. Therefore, missed appointments are costly for us and prevent us from providing services to other clients.
In the event that you are not able to keep your scheduled appointment, please contact us by phone, text, or email at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you have not confirmed your appointment within 24 hours of the scheduled time, your appointment will be cancelled.
As our groomers are only paid upon services rendered, Purrsnippety reserves to right to charge a non-refundable deposit equal to half the cost of the appointment should the client develop a history of cancelling. Continual cancellation of appointments will result in complete termination of services.
Late Arrivals
If our groomer arrives for the appointment but the owner or pet is not ready/not home, you may not receive the entire service that you are booked in for as there is an allocated time for each client. You may also incur an additional cost. Please be respectful of our time as we are a by-appointment business.
